BYU Grades FAQs

Why Doesn't BYU Grades Load Unless I'm Currently on that Tab in my Browser?

Unfortunately, this functionality is a browser setting. Learning Suite has no control over it.

Can I view total points possible for each assignment or exam?

Yes. Click the Display drop down menu and check the box next to Points possible. A row located below the last student will appear that lists the points possible for each column. Click here for more information.

Can I view the number of missing scores there are in the gradebook?

Yes. Click the Display drop down menu and check the box next to Missing scores. A row located below the last student will appear that lists the number of students without a score for each column. Click here for more information.

Can I hide the gradebook from students?

Yes. Click the Setup tab in BYU Grades and check the box next to Hide Gradebook from Students. Then click Save and Continue. This will still allow you to use BYU Grades but will hide the tab from students until you uncheck this box. This feature may be beneficial if you adjust grades (e.g., apply a curve) before assigning a final grade. By hiding the gradebook from students they will not be misled during the course. Click here for more information.

Is there an “undo” button in BYU Grades?

No, BYU Grades does not currently support an “undo” feature. However, there is a workaround. Within the Scores tab in BYU Grades, click an assignment drop down menu and select Open Score History. This allows you to see what and when scores were entered and who entered them. Find the score you wish to revert back to and enter it in BYU Grades when you return.

How do I find out about assignments submitted by students who have withdrawn from my class?

When a student withdraws from a class, they are removed from the active Learning Suite Gradebook for that class. However, any assignments submitted prior to withdrawal are retained in the Learning Suite database. Faculty can view grades for withdrawn students by exporting the gradebook (Click here for more information). Students or faculty can also call the Financial Aid office (801.422.4104) or the OIT Service Desk (801.422.4000) to request information about assignments that may have been completed prior to withdrawal.
