Score Exams Using the Grader

BYU Learning Suite allows instructors to grade exams, change scores, and make comments on students’ exams online via Learning Suite’s Grader.

Step One:

Log in to your Learning Suite course and click BYU Grades.

Step Two:

Click the arrow next to your exam’s name to open its drop-down menu.

Select Open Grader to access the grader.

Step Three:

The grader appears.

Click the Select a student drop down menu.

Select a student to view only their exam or select Grade by Question to view all students’ responses for one question at a time.

Step Four:

Questions will appear on the screen.

Correct responses are marked with green checkmarks.

Incorrect responses are marked with red x’s.

Step Five:

View the points that were earned for each question on the right. Points can be manually adjusted for any question.

Simply type a number in the entry box or use the arrows to increase or decrease the score.

Click anywhere out of the entry box to save the score.

Note: Scores entered or changed here may take up to one minute to reflect in BYU Grades. Try refreshing the page if it has been longer than one minute and scores have not updated.

Step Six:

Note that open response questions do not have scores assigned and must be scored manually.

Step Seven (Optional):

Enter any desired comments into the Comments entry field. If or when comments will be displayed to students depends on preferences selected in the Reporting tab during exam creation.
