Syllabus

BYU Learning Suite allows professors to include a syllabus in their course using a few different methods:

Learning Suite Syllabus Builder

If an instructor chooses to use Learning Suite’s syllabus builder, you can view your course syllabus by following the steps below.

Step One:

Enter your Learning Suite course and select Syllabus from the menu bar. If there is no Syllabus option, your instructor has not enabled it and may pursue other means of distributing a syllabus.

Step Two:

The left navigation menu provides links to various parts of the syllabus.

Note: Instructors can choose which parts of the syllabus to include and what order they appear in, meaning your course may appear differently than the example below.

Instructors/TA Info

Instructors/TA Info displays your instructor’s and TA’s name and picture. Additionally, instructors can choose to include their office location, phone number, office hours, and email address.

Course Information

Instructors can select to include some, all, or none of various sections in Course Information such as, course description, prerequisites, course materials, grading scale, grading policy, participation policy, attendance policy, classroom procedure, and study habits.

Note: The Higher Education Opportunity Act (HEOA) mandates that a list of required course materials is available to students. BYU complies with this law by providing My Book List, a website students can go to view all course materials in one place, provided their instructors have uploaded the information. If instructors have uploaded the information, My Book List information appears in Syllabus under the course materials section. If one or more of your instructors have not made course information available on My Book List, please contact them directly.

Assignments

Assignments contains the same information found in the Grades tab. It is a list of all assignments and published exams, their due dates and points possible. Additionally, your grade is shown towards the bottom of the page.

University Policies

The required University policies are the Honor Code, Sexual Misconduct, and Student Disability sections and will always be displayed. Instructors can choose to include some, all, or none of the other sections available such as academic honesty, deliberation guidelines, devotional attendance, inappropriate use of course materials, mental health, plagiarism, and respectful environment.

Print

The Print section allows you to print out the syllabus. You can select what sections of the syllabus to print.
