Copy Course Information from Your Own Course

BYU Learning Suite allows instructors to copy course materials from existing Learning Suite courses, other sections of a course, Development courses, or community courses. Additionally, instructors can copy course information from courses created by other instructors.

Note: You can access the Copy page in Learning Suite during initial course setup or after setup is complete.

Step One:

Click on the green Set up course button.

Step Two:

If you have multiple sections of the same course, select how you would like to group them. If you are not teaching multiple sections of the same course, skip to Step Three.

 

[1] Select the radio button next to your desired grouping preference. For more information on section grouping, Click Here.

[2] Click Continue to proceed.

Step Three:

Note: You cannot grant selective access to copy your course. However, you can check or uncheck this box at anytime giving someone time to copy the course information before restricting access.

[1] Title

Add the title you would like to show up for your course.

[2] Website

Click on the Use the BYU Learning Suite for my course radio button .
[3] Calculate Grades By

Select how you would like your grades calculated.

[4] Allow Copy

Select these options if you would like to allow other instructors to copy your course information and/or exams.

[5] Combine Courses

Select your course combination preferences.

[6] Set up Course

When you are satisfied with the setup information, click Set up course.

Step Four:

To copy content from one of the other courses you teach, click on the Copy link.

Step Five:

Click on the Copy materials and information from my course radio button.

Step Six:

Select the Semester drop down menu. Click on the appropriate semester.

Step Seven:

Select the Course drop down menu. Click on the appropriate course..

Step Eight:

Decide if you want to add the copied course material to your current content or replace all your current content with the copied course material.

[1] Add to

If you click the Add to my current course materials and information radio button, you will add the copied materials and information to the content already in the course

[2] Replace all

If you click the Replace all current course materials and information radio button, you will delete all existing materials and information in the course and replace it with the content from the other course. Select this option only if you do not want to keep anything from your course.

[1] Decide what materials to add to the course by selecting the appropriate check boxes.

[2] You can select course materials and information on an individual level by clicking the checkbox next to the item.

[3] Click the green Save Settings button to copy the content into your course

Step Ten:

Check to make sure your copy was successful.

After Course Setup

Step One:

Click on the course title to open your course.

Step Two:

Click on Setup under the Course Home menu.

Step Three:

Click on Copy under the Setup menu.

Click on the Copy materials and information from my course radio button.

Step Five:
